Growing up in London, William was inspired by his father, who carved wooden sculptures. He has completed numerous interior design and renovation projects, including his own Robert Byrd house and an apartment in the historic El Royal building. His designs have been featured in publications like the New York Times and Variety.
In 2007, after creating notable furniture lines like Ab Ovo and Flatbar, and spending a decade designing for Ralph Pucci, William began exploring new materials and processes beyond furniture design. Today, his company, William Emmerson Inc., continues to produce exclusive collections and limited-edition pieces, expanding through collaborations and new projects.
As the Emmerson storefront re-launches in Los Angeles, it will feature two new collections. One is a functional art series made of single block glass and marble, set to appear in public buildings and spaces across Los Angeles starting in Spring 2020. The other is a custom-made leather furniture collection, crafted using ancient bending and sculpting techniques, natural dyes, and nude skin from France, aiming to raise industry standards with its exceptional quality.
